Stone Carving

Thieves used a chisel to remove a stone carving from part of the window frame.

The stone carving depicts a knight holding a heart and is described as being 9inches by 6inches in size.

The carving is part of the church’s history and they would like it back.

If you see it offered for sale or on display, please let West Mercia Police know.

Brass Vases and Lectern

Stolen from Stourpaine near Blandford Forum.

Seven brass vases, part of a lectern and a desk lectern.

The brass lectern was made within the local community and has been in the church for over 100 years.

Silver cross, stolen from Manchester Cathedral. If you run a scrap metal yard, please be alert in case this cross is brought to you. The Cathedral would like it back.

Child’s Medieval Stone Burial Slab

Sadly stolen from St.Mary’s church, Foy, Ross-on-Wye HR9 6QY has been a portion of a child’s medieval stone burial slab carved in bas relief with a female wearing a cloak. It measures 51cm. in length and tapers from 35cm to 29cm wide being 8.5cm thick.
In common with many churches in the area the entire contents of St.Mary’s has been described in detail, photographed and measured by the local branch of NADFAS (National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts) as well as being marked with Smartwater, the DNA forensic tracing system, which will have soaked well into the stonework. Any person who has any information should contact Hereford Police on the control room number which is 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. Hopefully with the detailed description, photographs and tracing system it will make the piece unsalable and it will soon be recovered.

The church safe was stolen along with allits contents. The safe contained a large amount of silverware including plates and challises.

400 year old church silver

400-year-old silver,stolen from St Mary’s Church in St Mary’s Street, Lincoln.

The thief stole two 16th Century chalices and smaller silverware items from the safe.

Note: The pictures are of silverware from another church which is similar to the stolen items.

Cream and Green Cope

The cream and green cope with gold embroidery on it was stolen from the vestry of St. Swithins Church, in Leonard Stanley.

Large amount of historical silverware stolen from a church in Hope.

Around 15 items from a safe, ranging in age from 1662 to the 1970. Items stolen include two silver chalices and a 17th century pewter collection plate.

Bell

Massive, cast-iron bell worth £10,000 church bell stolen from a plinth outside the church in Johnstone, Renfrewhire.

The 85-year-old bell was swiped from the town’s St Margaret’s Church.

If anyone knows where it is or what has happened to it, please tell the police.”

The bell, which has “St Margaret’s, Johnstone, 1926, commissioned by Canon Aloysius Riefenrarth” engraved on the side, has been at the church for more than 80 years.

Silver items stolen from a Church in Heckfield.

A number valuable and irreplaceable items were stolen.

These included –
• a silver chalice
• a silver patten
• a silver ciborium
• a home communion set comprising a small silver chalice, a silver pyx and a silver topped flask

These items are estimated to be worth in excess of £10,000and date back to the 15th and 16th century. They are also extremely valuable in non-financial terms to the church and the congregation.

Please help to find them and return them safely to the church.
