Description

A 28-year-old Kingswood man fell from his bike after he rode into the cable in the dark at around 8pm on Monday December 12 2011. The cable was strung across the pathway at wheel height, so police are warning users of the Bristol/Bath cycle path to look out.

A passerby came to his aid after finding him unconscious at about 8.20pm – but his BLUE & BLACK TREK MADONE ROAD RACING BIKE had been stolen. He was checked over by paramedics but did not need further treatment.

It happened as the cyclist was riding towards Warmley, approaching a bridge in the Siston Common area, having just passed Mangotsfield station.

He’s a soldier who has been serving in Afghanistan and was training on a customised bike he uses for races.

Anyone with any information which could help police enquiries is asked to contact South Gloucestershire CID on 101.
