24 birds were taken from an aviary. They were worth around £8,500 in total and include the following:

A Siberian pied brown finch with a white beak and white spots
A red and white pied cock Bullfinch cock stolen from Tamworth
A brown bullfinch hen
A goldfinch mule with a bright orange face
Several bullfinch cocks including one with only one eye
A native brown and black bullfinch
Three brown Siberian bullfinches
Four red split cock Siberian bullfinches
A white bullfinch with pink eyes and a white beak. There are believed to be only two of its kind in the world and it is valued at £1,000.
Three goldfinches
A green canary

Most of the birds have rings on their ankles.

PC Jamie Sargent, from Tamworth Local Policing Team, said: “These specially-bred birds are very distinctive and are worth a considerable amount.

“Anybody with information should ring Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 88 of 13 May. Alternatively, they can call independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 101.”
