At about 2.30pm on Wednesday 4 May pearls valued at approximately £180,000 were stolen from the car boot of the 41-year old salesman from Germany whilst it was parked in North Street, Storrington.
His black Audi A4 estate had been there for no more that 5 minutes, whilst he visited a potential client nearby, when the theft happened. Two men smashed their way through the back windscreen and removed four briefcases and one plastic box, containing long strings of pearls which were not made up into jewellery items for sale. Each string had a tag on it, showing a picture of a pearl diver and the company name of DI PERLE.
The two suspects are believed to have driven east towards the A24 in a blue Volkswagen Passat.
The Police would like to talk to anyone who was in the Storrington area on Wednesday afternoon and who saw this theft. They would also like to hear from anyone who is subsequently offered strings of pearls.
