Police are investigating a series of thefts from farms in South Holland.
Thieves have been targeting ‘Star Fire’ satellite receivers that are attached to John Deere tractors, and are valued at over £10k.
Community Policing Inspector Jim Tyner said, ‘This is a new offence for us. These are an unusual and specific pieces of equipment and I would ask people to be on the lookout for these being sold’.
Thefts have occurred at farms as far afield as Deeping St Nicholas, Moulton Eaugate and Sutton Bridge. Farmers are urged review their tractor security arragements and encouraged to seek advice from their local Crime Reduction Officer or from the NFU – who have helpful advise on farmyard security on their website
