Police in Poole are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after a quantity of copper was stolen from a church in Poole.
The incident, in which unknown offenders took four down pipes from St George’s Church, in Darbys Lane in Poole, is believed to have happened overnight between Sunday, 10 April and Monday, 11 April 2011.
The offenders took four down pipes from the church, and a fifth was removed from the fixtures but left on the ground so it’s quite possible that the offenders were disturbed during the incident.
“As well as the theft of the pipes, some of the porch gutter was taken and an attempt was made to remove the porch roof.
“The cost of the copper that was taken isn’t yet known, but this is a big blow to a church in the heart of the community.
Has anyone been offered copper for sale in unusual circumstances?
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 01202 22 22 22 quoting incident number 11:67.
